The kid was pretty creepy, guess that's why casting brought him back again after s01e04 Conduit.

I wonder what Scully thought about the whole ordeal, being a devout Catholic? The predominant religion in Romania is Eastern Orthodox and the priests' vestments seemed consistent with that so ostensibly still Christian.

for me this episode was always a strange comedown after the tour de force of Humbug.

I guess we can't expect every episode to be on the level of "Humbug", but yes, this episode was pretty run of the mill. We had Eastern Orthodox men muttering incantations and dead roosters coming back to life and pecking out an elderly woman's eyes, and I'm still left with the sense that it could have been better.

Poor Maggie lost her younger son, her husband, and her mother in such short order. And now she has to live with the knowledge that they all could have been saved if she'd just listened to her mother. How annoying to have one's mother turn out to be right.

I don't believe that the warning Mulder receives about "evil knowing him" is ever picked up in a later episode...?
