The Amazing Race: Smells Like Dirty Tube Socks
December 6, 2014 5:49 AM - Season 25, Episode 10 - Subscribe
4 Teams race from Singapore to the Philippines on a race around the world.
This episode features jeepneys, spiny fish, motorized tricycles, self-satisfaction, a catch-up point, the scientist's continuing enjoyment of the experience, chance, oxen, bragging, crowing, and plows. Disappointingly, it's a non-elimination round.

Is this the first time we've seen Phil give a task outline at the task, while the contestants are arriving to read their clue? Can't remember seeing that before.
And it's been a long time since four teams were that close together at the mat, let alone this late in the race. They may not be good racers, but they're evenly matched.

No, this whole season has had Phil giving a task description while one of the teams runs past him in the background.
This is such a great season. A little sprinkle of a lot of different personalities to really make things fun.

Maya continues to not disappoint in her enthusiasm. I was SO mad those dick wrestlers (that's an adjective OR IS IT????) still got to stay in the game. This season has been an all-time high for people I would rather have been eliminated.
Also, it was yet another incidence of Jim and Misti saying some jerky thing (right in the opening, "Legs 10 and 11, we break everyone else's spirit...") then going all Jesus pious just minutes later.

I was surprised the dentists wanted to build the vehicle when they haven't been very good at attention to detail tasks so far in the race. The fish gathering one seemed right up their alley. It was a straight ahead task where Jim could show off how strong he is. The wrestlers got out of there first and Robbie didn't want to touch the fish which seemed to cost them quite a bit of time.

I think maybe they think they're good at detail-oriented tasks — despite any problems they've had with them throughout the race, which they don't see as objectively as we do. An example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. And perhaps even understandable, seeing as they're in a profession which relies critically on attention to detail. But even if they're perfectly good at attention to detail in one very narrow area — inside a patient's mouth, which they trained on and then practiced in for years — maybe that doesn't translate to attention to detail more generally, particularly at tasks they are attempting for the first time in their lives.
