I am always going to be upset with how this episode ended.

The X Files getting shut down by a beancounter/ regulatory compliance type would have been a far better end.

Nice that they got some of the original actors from the pilot.

Nicholas Lea's looking good, too good for a Krycek who's been rotting in a Turkish (?) prison.

I thought that I'd have complex feels about this episode, but meh. Though I wonder what the cut 12 minutes would have been about?

Featuring some of the actors from the pilot was a nice touch, but the thing was the pilot wasn't that strong so the full circle effect wasn't as satisfying as it might have been. Still, it was okay, and there were some cool effects.

Krycek was in a prison in Tunisia, which is in North Africa, but yes, he looked way too fit and healthy to have been there long. I mean, he even had a good haircut. Also there's no explanation for how he got there (the last time we saw him, he was in the U.S. and a free agent), but I must admit it's more entertaining to leave it unexplained. Krycek is such a weasel even the script writers don't care about him. Covarrubias was watching him in the shower and it didn't even feel salacious (the two of them have ZERO chemistry) -- it just felt like Covarrubias was all, whatever, it's just Kryeck.

Krycek and Covarrubias didn't check in order to be sure that CSM was dead? Seriously?

FBI Accountant Guy: A lot? Gas, expenses... the motel rooms alone. By FBI standards these numbers are out of control.
Mulder: We could start sharing rooms.

Mulder wasn't actually just kidding. He'd be perfectly happy to share a room with Scully, although she would probably object on the grounds of his messiness, if nothing else. We've never seen them be more loving towards each other than they were in this episode. They're actually cuddling on Mulder's bed.

The ending of this episode kind of gets me. Scully finds out she's miraculously gotten the thing she wanted and had been grieving for.... just as she finds out she's lost the other thing that meant just as much to her.
