Is this a remake of James Burke’s Connections?

Not a remake, exactly, but concept-wise, it does follow in it's footsteps. I wish it was James Burke hosting this one, though, he's awesome. I only watched the first episode so far - really interesting material, lots of cool things to learn about, but I found the host offputting. He's really leaning into a goofy, nerdy persona, but the effect of that, for me, was feeling like I was being talked to like a child. I watch shows like this to feel smart, dammit! That gets really undermined when the host talks like he's trying to connect with a six-year-old.

I loved this. I don’t listen to podcasts, so I wasn’t familiar with Latif Nasser, but I’m a huge fan now. All of the episodes were fascinating in their own way, and it is ridiculously great looking and brilliantly put together.
