Kevin Hart, in a dramatic role, plays a father bringing up his baby girl as a single dad after the unexpected death of his wife.

I don’t really care much for KH and I found this very sweet and compelling. Great cast, the story was focused and overall, it was an enjoyable movie. I’ll look forward to seeing him in some more dramatic roles.

Agreed. I enjoyed this more than I expected to, Kevin Hart is a really good dramatic actor and really shines in this role. I especially enjoyed his characters' interactions with his mom and MIL. Lil Rey Howery and Anthony Carrigan were great as his slightly inept but ultimately endearing friends.

Although I hadn't been a Kevin Hart fan during his earlier days, his turns in the Jumanji movies were legitimately hilarious, so I guess I became a fan somewhere along the way.

We watched this on Father's Day and my teenage son got to see me in tears, so mission accomplished.

Is this kid friendly?

Depends on the kid, I suppose. We showed it to our 13 year old son, who really enjoyed it. There's some language -- we're fine with him hearing some language -- and some of it is actually pretty funny in the context of the scene. There's no violence or overt sex, just some kissing and flirting.

More importantly, Kevin Hart's character is a great role model, his friends provide a strong support network, the familial relationships are imperfect but honest, and the whole movie is buoyed by emotional authenticity. That's what our son really connected with.
