The Giant Mechanical Man (2012)

An offbeat romantic comedy about a silver-painted street performer and the soft spoken zoo worker who falls for him.

Janice (Jenna Fischer) and Tim (Chris Messina) both feel lonely and underappreciated. Doug (Topher Grace) is a smarmy author. Janice's sister Jill (Malin Akerman) and brother-in-law Brian (Rich Sommer) try to be helpful but don't quite understand why they're not. Lucy Punch and Bob Odenkirk deliver in their smaller roles also.

This was the rare romantic comedy that Mrs. Wreckage and I both liked. That is likely because I was able to understand the characters and story much more than other similar movies since I take things way too literally and don't always pick up on subtext. We found this to be a charming story about likable (and a few very unlikable) characters. It might be too simplistic for some people but sometimes a very straightforward story done well is what I'm looking for.
