After a competitor returns from phase 1 of Last Chance Kitchen, the cheftestants compete in a Quickfire in teams of two, making a dessert that pairs a salty and sweet ingredient. The elimination challenge is to make a dish inspired by one of five trailblazing Texan women, to be served to a dinner celebrating the achievements of Texan women past and present.

I’m excited for Evelyn’s streak and also continue to root for Jackson for whatever reason (would not have wanted to eat the offal ragu, however, and am impressed he convinced the table he had bought into the theme with what, when you boil it down, was basically a dad joke). This show continues to warm my heart.

How long has there been more than one LCK winner? That seems to be bordering on unfair to the remaining chefs.

Two LCK people returning has been since, I think, Colorado.

I don’t like Jackson but it’s completely irrational; he strikes me as a tryhard.

The episode in general was a tepid response to Texas’s backwards state government but I guess within the context of TC, it was fine. Only guests and contestants were able to comment on it all; Padma sported the PP pin.

Overall the food looked pretty good, I feel like Jo has a production target on her back, they keep showing her lack of confidence.

Our household as well. I was infuriated he convinced the table he'd bought into the theme with what was not only a dumb dad joke but was also incredibly generic; his person had "heart and guts" - from that description can you guess which of the five women he had picked? No, you can not.

Super glad that Evelyn did well on this challenge; she was so into Selena and sometimes that can lead someone to falling on their faces. Overall, I'm so glad that this show has evolved from Top Jerk into Chef Friends; it's every inch as compelling and much more pleasant. The presence of LCK is also good; it's a repechage round that helps maintain the quality of the competition; if a solid chef has a single brain fart moment, they can still come back.
