Outer Range: The Land

The Abbott family frantically conspires to cover up their crimes but can't piece together what has happened to Royal.

In a shocking conclusion to the premiere, Royal Abbott was pushed into the mysterious black hole by the equally mystifying Autumn. Having survived the vortex of doom with only a few mere flesh wounds, Royal returns to the family home. With wife Cecilia now in on the secret, the four discuss their next move. The enigmatic camper Autumn explores the grounds, finding an unusual symbol on a rock face.

I was unable to stop laughing when I realized that the Abbott family brand is a Vault Symbol.

here's my punny take on it, that i've shared elsewhere on the medias:

first episode in, i was thinkin' it was all, No Country For Hu-mans.
but now with ep 2 under my belt, i'm pretty sure it's gonna go Cowboy Fringe.

After this episode, I like to think of the potential for that weird, remote attraction, the Wyoming Time-Hole.

Interesting that it seems it pushes living people into the future, but not dead ones, as far as I can tell.

The dead body could have gone into the future as well, if we assume it is connected a fixed 'distance' into the future. Trevor's body would have appeared next to the hole a couple of days before Royal showed up, which would probably explain why the other Tillerson brother shot Royal as soon as he saw him. Also Cecilia tells him to run, maybe because he's a suspect in the murder.

It feels like maybe an alternate universe instead of a linear-timeline future, though, since Royal died 2 years ago but not from falling in a hole. Also if the timeline was linear then Royal should go two+ years *further* into the future instead of back home. (I'm fully aware I just thought about this more than the writers did.)

I'm on board for Cowboy Fringe, can we please have Jon Noble show up as a grizzled old cowboy scientist from the local university? Pretty please?

Episodes 3 and 4 have long since dropped, is someone doing the posts about those episodes or shall I?

Some real Mason Verger energy from Will Patton, there.
