Final Destination 2 (2003)

When Kimberly has a violent premonition of a highway pileup she blocks the freeway, keeping a few others meant to die, safe...Or are they? The survivors mysteriously start dying and it's up to Kimberly to stop it before she's next.
The only bad thing about Final Destination 2 is that the best scene (the pileup) is right there at the beginning of the film. The rest of the film is enjoyable, but wow that opening scene is terrific.

I have repeatedly use the phrase "get Final Destinationed" to describe being killed by things falling off the back of a truck and universally people in my age group with whom I have used it have understood exactly what I was describing without any further explanation.
In that regard, at least, it is a remarkable movie.

This is free on IMDB TV right now, by the way.
And yeah, that opener is such a stunner, the rest of the movie suffers by comparison.

I remember seeing this in 2003. Not in the theater, on a bootleg DivX;-) at a friend's. We rated it blurry and macro-block-y. Rewatching it, the scares have a bit more punch when seen in HD.

They shouldn’t have killed Clear Rivers. Ali Larter wasn’t the lead but she stole the show.

2 really amped up the comedy aspect, and it worked for me.
The mini "cliffhangers" at the ends of the Rube Goldberg-esque deaths never got old, and there are so many imaginative ones.
