I had a bit of whiplash from how dark the mood went from S1 to S2. I guess it was heading there at the end, but man, episode 1+2 were intense in both interleaved timelines, and the twist didn't really lighten the feeling afterwards. Episode 3 (2) was only slightly lighter and 4 (3) went dark dark again.
