Dan Gillis (James Farentino) and his wife (Melody Anderson) have moved to small New England town Potters Bluff, where Dan is to be the new Sheriff. They quickly discover strange goings on: people who have turned up dead, presumably murdered, appear to turn up again shortly after, alive and well. An 80's cult favorite.

Also stars Jack Albertson, Robert Englund, Barry Corbin, and Lisa Blount.

Screenplay by Robert Shusett (Alien, Total Recall). Directed by Gary Sherman (Poltergeist III).

71% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Currently streaming in the US on Amazon Prime, AMC+, and Shudder, and free with ads on Peacock, Tubi, and Vudu. Also available for digital rental on multiple outlets. JustWatch listing.

This is a legitimate banger, a film that was made with unusual care and atmosphere for an era better known for exploitative thrill rides.

From the shocking opening scene to the, well, shocking ending, this is a great flick. An underappreciated film in the horror canon.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere in this one. Any horror movie involving messed up things happening within the insular, provincial community of a small coastal town—I'm in!
