Gotham: What The Little Bird Told Him

The Electrocutioner continues his reign of terror, so Gordon bluffs his way back on the case. Fish makes her move to get rid of Carmine Falcone.
I actually liked the scene with Barbara's parents, because I know people with parents kind of like that, and it does kind of explain some about where she's coming from and why she's such a goddamn mess. She's a mess though.
I also didn't the end of Fish's coup attempt coming. After so much time building it up you'd almost be convinced it was going to succeed. But! Now that her coup has failed, and one crazy Joker theory has been mostly shot down, I propose a new crazy theory: Fish Mooney gets tortured and carved up by Falcone's men, left for dead dumped in some toxic landfill somewhere, but survives and becomes the Joker.

Oh man! That would be pretty awesome. I think Jada has the chops to pull that off since she's been consistently entertaining, and channels the madcap insanity of the Batman spectrum of characters. It would mean that Joker would be a S2 arc, since they can't just have her sitting around doing nothing for a season.
That's actually one of the technical concerns I have for the show. Batman relies on having a massive, well developed rogue's gallery. But actor contracts sort of dictate giving the person constant employment. So, like, The Penguin is fine this season, but I don't necessarily want to see that much more of him at the end of his arc. I want another high caliber actor portraying another great villain. It'll be interesting to see if they can balance getting (and retaining) talent with telling interesting stories.

I think it really depends on how many seasons they see the show going for - which is a decision they probably ought to make soon.

I pray that they do not show anything that screams "THIS IS THE JOKER!" in any part of this show given, for instance, how terribly they've handled Catwoman and Poison Ivy. There's plenty of others they could hint at who are older then Batman. Freeze has a tragic backstory that could be shown, Killer Croc would be a bit older than young master Bruce and could be shown in the upcoming episode introducing the Flying Greysons. There'd be no excusing a tween version of the Joker. No forgiveness, either.

I really enjoy the kid who plays young Bruce.
I am a little confused that Wayne Manor has only one room, though.

Good episode. I'm really glad they didn't extend the Electrocutioner subplot. Fish getting caught in her plot was a nice twist. Penguins eat Fish, after all.
This was the first episode that I recall where Penguin has such an obvious wobbling walk. Did I miss something? I know he's been pretty regularly beat-up and abused, but I just don't recall seeing such an obvious "Penguin" walk before now.

I'm very interested to see the blowback from Maroni about Penguin's inadvertent reveal of his Falcone ties.

I think Penguin's walk was the result of his electrocution (loved this episode, PS).

Yay for serial story pay-off! I liked how abruptly the coup comes after weeks and weeks of foreshadowing. Echoed in the weird street kidnapping of Liza that happened out of nowhere, a bit of a storytelling risk that paid off well. The deus-ex-machina of Penguin happening to be knocked out for a few hours right when he was needed was a bit goofy but it all worked out intelligently in the end. And we get at least a little more Fish, she's not just killed. I love the idea of her becoming Joker but I bet they go with a new cast member. Jada Pinkett Smith would make a nice Harley Quinn too, you know?
The Electrocutioner was the stupidest villain idea since Clock King. His minions were ridiculous and silly too. But, well, that's done with.
It's odd to me how they keep shoehorning in vignettes of minor characters. They're doing a good job with Ed Nigma, that actor is having a lot of fun. But could we just erase Barbara Keane from the story entirely? That whole scene with the frigid parents sure didn't anything to the show.
I cringed at poor Liza, such a complete victim and innocent little girl. It's a terribly sexist stereotype but I think appropriate in Gotham, a TV show built entirely out of outlandish stereotypes. Just felt terrible for her.
3 episodes to go.

What? He's been limping since the inciting incident in his arc on the pier and it's been getting more severe every episode. The electrocutioner attack may have increased it but if you look at him in every episode leading up to this one he's been limping and his feet have been turning out more and more.

She was willing to beat another woman to the point of unconsciousness in order to earn the position of double agent.

Every peice of evidence that moved their investigation along was literally put inside their hands. Electrocutioneer even came to Gordon. Bullock made a lucky guess about the Electronics store and that yeilded nothing except some guy left as a vegetable.
Penguin has had the limp since Fish gave him a beating.
