All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: GRAND SLAM: Dynamite 9/21 and Rampage 9/23
September 21, 2022 10:28 AM - Season 3, Episode 51 - Subscribe
Posting this one earlier in the day than usual because I'm going to be there live! If you're watching this on TV than you're getting what's essentially a PPV-quality match card for free on television, as every Dynamite match this week is a title match.
According to TK, this year's Grand Slam is already AEW's highest grossing non-PPV event ever. Tonight's card:
AEW All-Atlantic Championship: PAC (champion) vs. Orange Cassidy
AEW Tag Team Championship: Swerve in Our Glory (champions) vs. The Acclaimed
Ring Of Honor Championship: Claudio Castagnoli (champion) vs. Chris Jericho
AEW Women’s Championship (Interim): Toni Storm (champion) vs. Dr. Britt Baker vs. Serena Deeb vs. Athena
AEW Championship: Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley
The card for Friday's two-hour Rampage has only one title match, but is no less stacked:
Golden Ticket Battle Royale
Eddie Kingston vs. Sammy Guevara
Wardlow & Samoa Joe vs. Josh Woods & Tony Nese
Hook & Action Bronson vs. "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard & "Cool Hand Ang" Angelo Parker
Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Ricky Starks
Jungle Boy vs. Rey Fenix
Sting & Darby Allin vs. Brody King & Buddy Matthews (No Disqualification Match)
TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (champion) vs. Diamante

Oh, and on Rampage we're totally gonna see Darby Allin turn on Sting and become a new member (possibly leader?) of the House of Black.
Because it is Sting's destiny to have every tag partner he's ever had turn heel on him eventually. IT HAS BEEN FORETOLD.

(I for one cannot believe "Scissor me, Daddy Ass" got over as a catchphrase.)
Billy Gunn is a charisma black hole; you can only see him by his effect on nearby catchphrases.

I started watching wrestling when people were yelling “kill that f****t” because Dustin Rhodes wasn’t performing masculinity to their specifications and today the loudest audience reaction is a crowd of thousands singing “OOOOOOH, SCISSOR ME, DADDY” to an openly gay wrestler.
It’s been a journey but I like where we’ve wound up.

Well I was wrong about Claudio, what else will I get wrong before the night is through?

Won’t do any spoilers here, but I will say that Rampage had a surprise guest, whose true purpose can only be guessed at…

As for Danielson/Moxley, I don't know who'll win but whoever loses will be the only BCC member not holding gold (ain't no way Claudio is losing), and might soon depart the BCC.
I was also kinda surprised at Claudio losing, but if they're actually going to do something with ROH, then there are worse ideas than "Real ROH guys have to wrest the title away from Chris Jericho" as an initial plotline.
I don't know about Danielson leaving the BCC. I think Danielson (both the person and the character) is less concerned with being The Champion than he is with being The Best Wrestler, and he can be the latter just as well within the BCC. Plus they have MJF ready for the next Mox plotline.

Swerve and Keith Lee will probably lose, because The Acclaimed are just so hot with audiences right now. (I for one cannot believe "Scissor me, Daddy Ass" got over as a catchphrase.) This sets up for a Full Gear rubber match.
Jericho will lose the match, and probably lose Daniel Garcia to the Blackpool Combat Club in the process. That's not a surprise, it's just connecting the storytelling dots.
I don't know if Toni will retain her title but I'd be hard-pressed to believe Britt can do anything new with it, and it's mostly internet smarks like me who care about Serena or Athena right now.
