When Gregory sends a disruptive student to Principal Ava's office, he learns that the students like spending time with Ava. Meanwhile, Melissa invites Janine over so she can learn how to cook, but Janine is hoping that Melissa and her sister can reunite.

I really liked this episode. Melissa telling Jacob and Janine to close their eyes in her home, Janine buying an adorable shallot instead of an onion, Jacob wanting to haggle prices up with the local vendors, Micah loving Bluey, Gregory relating how his childhood zest for life resulted in timeouts to build character, Ava describing how hard the walk to the principal's office is for a six year old, Melissa and her sister trading insults about Janine's gnocchi, the cold open with Barbara absolutely commiting to singing happy birthday. Lots of good stuff.
