This is the last good non-Scream movie Wes Craven ever made.

Given how big Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy have gotten in the years since, it probably deserves being better remembered than it is.

It's not earth-shattering in terms of ambition, but Craven doesn't miss a beat. This is taut and brisk. Fun watch.

I had to watch this about three times in college because every film professor taught it as a study in three-act structure. I didn't find it especially compelling, but it is put together extremely sturdily.

Jackson Rippner? Really?

Yup, and he lampshades it.

This film. One the one hand, it’s dreadful and bad. On the other, it’s a perfect last unicorn of sorts.

Watched this again and enjoyed it, once again. This said, I tend to think of this, not as a great movie, but as a solid, mildly enjoyable movie for which my enjoyment is enhanced by it being so clearly a product of a particular time. Ironically, this time is the timeframe between 1996-2002, somewhat before this actually came out. It is, as iamkimiam points out, a last unicorn of sorts.
