Forever sundered from humanity, Claudia’s reckless hunting endangers her increasingly dysfunctional vampiric family.

Bound in blood to her “father” and “uncle”, the youngest vampire’s attempts to create a life for herself reveals the existence of even worse predators outside New Orleans, while her return triggers apocalyptic violence. In the present day, Louis’ editorializing of his deep past creates tensions.

I was charmed by the show’s almost certainly futile attempt to head “sexy Claudia Halloween costumes” off at the pass.

Oh, there you are, Lestat.

I'm an episode ahead because I'm watching on AMC+ so I've already had a week to metabolize this episode. I was pretty upset by it originally (and I'm still not happy about the decision to inflict sexual violence on Claudia) but I've come around on some of the things that bothered me.

I did initially think that Lestat's heel turn was too dramatic and too violent, but then I remembered that he literally punched through that priest's head in the first episode, sooooo...

I never felt like there was any question, in the book, of whether Claudia was justified in attempting to murder Lestat. They're certainly giving her ample justification, here, in any event.

That's Lestat, basically. He's a violent narcissist and this show is characterizing him perfectly. It's really a delight (not really a delight) to watch Louis and Claudia really find out how terrible Lestat can be and throw us into the next phase of their relationship.

oof, that ending was hard to watch. Lestat coming out and showing himself fully as the abusive creepy vampire husband. Hit hard.

now it's been awhile since I read the books again but is Bruce/Killer in them? Or a new character since Claudia is aged up?

I must say I am really enjoying the actors. its just the perfect mix of serious campy horror.

Pretty sure Killer appears in the Baby Jenks section of QotD, unless my memory fails me.
