This went a lot better than I thought it would from the pre-credits sequence. It could have stood a little less of The Writer, but the whole Self-Referential Six bit just kept getting better and better.

Also, is there anywhere that tells when the show comes back from a mid-season hiatus, or do you just have to keep checking, is that the whole point?

That was the most Dan Harmon episode, fully meta with Joey Cambs and even the story circle on the board.
As to tv scheduling, i've long used PogDesign's TV Calendar to keep track.

i only knew because i watch the season through Prime and they email when a new ep comes out

I love that, even though Dan Harmon's story circles are a straight rip off of Joseph Campbell's monomyth concept, he and the writing team still dropped a reference to Campbell's rather problematic aspects in a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde scene.
