Super glad Rupert Murdoch and Elon Musk got a special call out as brilliant minds.

Rihanna was amazing that arial platform so cool.

I was worried about how far a drop and how shaky they seemed to be until I noticed that Rihanna at least was anchored to it. I didn’t realize I knew so many of her songs.

Go KC!

Loved them showing the international watch parties, including the KC fans in Germany. Good thing there's no precedent for a bunch of guys making a racist one arm gesture in unison in a beer hall in Munich.

That was a pretty weak call on the hold. But strategic, yeah?

Whoot, whoot KC!

Very nice! I was rooting against the eagles because of the Niners game so very happy.

Big fan of Mahomes, glad to see him win. A great game, although it basically ended on a pretty weak penalty.

Kind of weak ending to a good game. Regardless of whether you think the penalty was legit or not, it's always crap to see a game decided by one.

Neither defense seemed to be on tonight.

Not many tackles tonight, more players being dragged down. I don't watch football very often, is that the new play style?

Half time show was boring enough that we got up halfway through it.

Same set, same performer, no changes for 10 minutes, That's dreary even if you like the performer.

The dancers in white were pretty cool, but again, it was the same same for the entire show.

The Ram truck ED paradoy was the best of the bunch.

Lots of 80s songs and stars being featured.

Does anyone actually scan those QR codes?

Madajb, my six year old daughter will fight you. It’s the first Super Bowl she’s seen, and she was totally drawn into the halftime show. Until now, she’s never shown any interest in music that isn’t kid’s songs or cartoon theme songs. She’s never seen or even heard of Rihanna before. She had to ask me a couple of times what her name was. But she is now “definitely her number one fan.” The spectacle of it totally blew her little mind. She was copying the dance moves and just having a hell of a time.

(Granted, you’re probably not six and your mileage may vary.)

Far be it from me to argue with a six year old getting her groove on!

Caught a few minutes off and on, both fumbles somehow. Really loved KC's huddle dances, not a sports fan but dancing football plays could get my attention. Those should get the replays!

The holding penalty at the end was ticky-tack, but it didn't cost the Eagles the game. What cost them the game was a complete lack of defense in the second half, particularly the two receivers waltzing in untouched for touchdowns and the circus clown anthem that played over the PA during the Chiefs' big punt return.

I'm not going to point fingers in blame... but everything was going fine until Rihanna took the field. Coincidence or conspiracy, I don't know.

A couple of things that may have been going on:

1) Some defensive coaching emphasizes holding up the ballcarrier once forward momentum is stopped in order to try to strip the ball.
2) A running line of commentary during the game was about how terrible the field conditions were and how players kept losing their footing. It's often not great in games like this because they repaint the field with new logos, the impact of all the equipment from the halftime show, etc., but it seemed unusually bad this year. This may have impacted the kind of leverage tacklers could get.

Eagles played great but were out-coached. their defensive plan in the first half was shut down everything we can and they mostly did except for Kelce. Their second half adjustment was to shut down Kelce, which they did only to get torched by everyone else (mostly Ju-Ju).
I'm disappointed, but it was a last-team-with-the-ball-wins game which is fun to watch (but it's the reason the penalty call hurt. not the yardage, but the fact that it allowed KC to hold the ball until the end.)

yep, exactly. imagine how much more dramatic the game would have been if the Eagles got the ball back with, say, 90 seconds instead of six? Esp. given that on the previous the Eagles had driven the length of the field and not only scored a TD but also the more risky (but essential) two-point conversion.

Referees gotta referee, I guess, but maybe the NFL should give them some guidance to maybe only call egregious stuff in the last five minutes of the game? A tug on jersey for a second that doesn't seem to impede the receiver should't affect the outcome so much.

Eagles fan here. At the half I asked my family "the Eagles are up by 10 so why does it feel like they're losing?"

Defense couldn't make a stop at all in the second half. The unforced Hurts fumble obviously didn't help the situation. Eagles looked bad-to-average and the Chiefs looked good-to-great the entire game and despite all that they were tied with like five minutes to go.

I don't believe the NFL or the refs 'rig' games or call penalties so that the game goes a certain way but that dollar store holding call is exactly why people some people do think that. Eagles make that stop, Chiefs kick the go-ahead FG, Eagles get the ball back with like a minute and a half left? That's a nice setup for an exciting finish.

Instead we get a horrible holding call that will be the only thing people remember from an otherwise decent game.

Oh and the turf was trash. Not as trash as that call but close.

KC always comes back strong in the second half. Their QB has fought through injury for several weeks and he still runs the ball like a MF. Chiefs had this. Plus I tend to root for the teams with better colors or that I lived near by. That stint in Topeka KS was enough for me to be rooting for KC.

And yeah, the commercials mostly sucked except for a couple, I fast forwarded through halftime.

Even more impressive when you learn that it was almost a Times New Roman platform. What might have been.

Dude, it was only 25 years ago that the halftime shows were all either marching bands or Up With People. We have it good.

...I am overly fond of the Bud Light ad where the couple is dancing to hold music. It wasn't overly high-concept, it was relateable, and it was cute.

For added cuteness, the dancing couple was actor Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh.

I didn't get to the game until halftime, but it turned out to be one of the most boring close games ever, at least when starting from there. I thought it would be more like a special bad turnover that would get things in tie territory, and...yada yada. Last one with the ball indeed, it would have been nicer without the call, but whaddya gonna do.
