Was it me, or was Sabrina Carpenter doing the worst lip-syncing evar during Espresso?

On the upside, being the finale, this was the WU where Che and Jost cold read gags written by the other one. There were some pretty good ones in the mix.

I thought for sure Sabrina Carpenter was lip-syncing, but what I think happened is that they played her backing track too high in the mix and her mic feed too low - there were slight moments through the song where you could hear just the faintest difference, and her backup singers were at times far louder than her track. Performers do the dual vocal track thing live pretty regularly, especially if they’re not seasoned or confident live vocalists. They evened the levels out a little better in the second appearance, but her backing track was still pretty high.

That said, she was definitely my second-least favorite musical guest of the season.

I adore Marcello Hernandez. He's so goofy and cute.

I have enjoyed his last few WU spots especially. He has a good feel for those silly bits. There are so many bland white dudes on the show right now, that he could really be a break-out.

Where were all the celebrity drop-ins for the finale? Jon Hamm seems to be available at the drop of a hat these days, but I was expecting a bunch more.

I think the Kendrick Lamar thing might be the best that Jost has ever gotten Che.

I loved the premise of "Snake Eyes" but it felt kind of under-executed, like it needed another 30-60 seconds to really be rounded out.

Also: What was with that “upset woman” sketch Heidi did during WU? It seemed almost like an inside joke, but not exactly in a funny way.

I’m not even finished but came here to say Beautiful Boys got a bigger laugh from me than anything they’ve done in years (with the possible exception of Jumanji)! When they paraded out in those OUTFITS. I was so happily surprised. I wonder if it was a response to the “no hot women on SNL” Tik Tok nonsense. I don’t care for Jake Gyllenhaal, but that was excellent.

Fun season finale! Loved the monologue’s End of the Road, Beautiful Boys and the cicadas.
