huh, I guess I never realized this movie had no FF already.
this is one of my all time FAVORITE movies!!! it's so good and yes Ben Kingsley is terrifying. they call it his "anti-Gandhi" role. It's an extremely intense ride and so well done. (and highly quotable, at least in my house "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!"
my favorite character is Deedee. during the major confrontation by the pool, everyone is terrified of Don Logan except her and when she comes out of the house with the shot gun he knows its done. she is the only one who can go up against him.
so good!

Yup! Fantastic movie. Kingsley's performance blots out the sun.

This is such a fantastic movie. It blew me away when I first saw it (on DVD, in maybe 2002?). All the performances are fantastic, the script is a perfectly cut diamond, the editing and cinmetography are great. Great fucking picture.

There's a prequel series on Paramount+. I haven't watched it, but the reviews aren't great.

I love how the menace of Don Logan is played out before he even shows up on screen. Our carefree retirees are living the life in sunny Spain, when Aitch gets a call, and is clearly scared shitless. They all know Logan is capable of anything, someone who runs on pure instinct, and don't know what he'll do. They'll all be at his mercy until he is gone.
Aitch and wife Jackie are clearly terrified. Gal is willing to sacrifice some pounding, with the hope of getting Logan to back down. They're only thought is to pet the seething pit bull as gently as possible, maybe he'll wander off. But Dee Dee knows Logan will not be backing down, and is the only one with the guts to show any kind of defiance. She's put up with enough in life and simply isn't going roll over anymore. When it comes down to it, she won't hesitate to do what needs to be done.
Teddy Bass also has some keen instincts. That dead stare McShane does so well sees right through Gal. What Gal walks away with, £10, earrings, plus getting out from under that Teddy Bass/Don Logan shadow, probably worth it.

Incredible movie, can't get enough Ray Winstone. I often do a double of Sexy Beast and Nil by Mouth.
