A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella (1995)

Zixia, a fairy, makes Joker her servant. Stranded 500 years in the past, Joker learns about his previous life as the Monkey King and plots to return to the future to save his wife Pak Jing Jing. However, Zixia wants Joker for herself and believes they are fated to be together.

This film stars Stephen Chow as Joker/The Monkey King and Athena Chu as the fairy Zixia. Be sure to watch Part One: Pandora's Box first. This second part has more furious action and crazy stunt work. It continues the first movie's motif of strong women and ridiculously weak men. Athena Chu plays an Immortal with assurance and loads of charm. Streaming on Netflix and Tubi in the US.

There was a Part Three made in 2016 (in Mandarin, very slick, and honestly best avoided). Chow himself directed a variation on the Monkey King story in 2013's Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons, which even reused the beautiful song Love of a Lifetime from this film.
