I love the recaps, I’m dealing with brain fog at the moment and I wouldn’t get as much out of a show without them!

It took me a bit to get into this show, but I’m liking it. The recaps have been handy to catch me up where my mind had wandered.
I like how this show switches between Japanese and English in a kind of rational way, and not just “okay, we started with Japanese because this is set in Japan, but now everyone will speak English for the sake of the audience”. Like when Sunny talks to Mixxy in Japanese because she knows Suzie won’t understand. And how Suzie can clearly pick up bits of Japanese, even though she’s not fluent. Anatomy of a fall was kind of like that with French, German, and English - each language had a place in the story aside from being just a mechanism for delivery.

I loved the first two episodes but this one (while still kinda fun) felt like a wish list of elements they wanted to include more than a coherent story.

I appreciated the way that they acknowledged the use of the in-ear interpreter dingus when they visited the guy at Totally Not Don Quijote and he needed a moment to catch up when Susie started talking and he wasn't expecting to need interpretation. Found myself wondering if they somehow found a disused supermarket for the Battlebots sequence, or if they just built a fairly convincing set.
Kind of dug the opening scene with Hime, especially the slow reveal that she wasn't actually hiding anything from her visitor, and found myself sort of impressed that they didn't bother explaining the implications of a prosthetic pinky finger for audiences not familiar with yakuza tropes.
Overall it's been kind of a fun watch if only to play "oh that DEFINITELY does not exist in Kyoto, wow, how do they live on Ninenzaka" and so on, but they seem to have done basically the best job they could depicting Japan in a way that feels at least vaguely respectful of the actors involved, doing everything they can to reconcile "white person writes Japan" with (in some to many cases) the actual city of Kyoto. At first I found myself wondering why they picked Kyoto, but then the mother-in-law and Sunny started employing very sharply pointed verbal irony and I was like, oh, okay, that "I'll bring you soy sauce" line is extremely Kyoto.

Although my partner and I both burst out laughing when we saw her walking home along the MOST touristy street in Kyoto. I mean, yeah, it's a gorgeous street, but c'mon.
I am really needing those recaps, though. I don't know if it's just me -- I do tend to miss a lot in TV shows because I'm pretty distractible -- or if they're just doing a poor job of making some things obvious enough.
