AEW Collision: August 24, 2024 (& Rampage, August 23)

Oh the irony, one of the nights when I can catch Collision live it's actually pre-taped from AEW's visit to Cardiff! Oh well, the go-home show that's one sleep before All In: London 2024 features two separate trios matches, some classic little man vs. big man action, a mixed-tag teaser, plus AMC's Ben Mankiewicz lending his golden voice to the Toni Storm/Mariah May clash.

If you notice that AEW is slowly moving PAC into conjunction with Blackpool Combat Club and away from his former Death Triangle compadres, well you're not imagining it. Rumor is strong that Penta El Zero Miedo and Fénix are one-foot-out-the-door, signing with WWE as soon as their current contracts are up. ¡Vaya con Dios, Lucha Bros!

I always forget that, even though she looks like a WCW Nitro Girl and acts like an Australian Jillian Hall, that Harley Cameron can actually wrestle. She kept her match with Willow competitive until she was foolhardy enough to get into a striking contest, whereupon she gets Doctor Bomb'd into the center of the ring.

I haven't watched nearly enough BritWres or Premier League to be able to decode what British crowds are singing during matches, but in the beginning of the Shibata/Lethal match they are chanting something directed at Satnam Singh that apparently made him laugh.

Cardiff not taking anything about this visit for granted: The crowd randomly decided that Big Bill was the babyface and decided to cheer for him, so he decided to heel harder and started flipping them the bird and that just made them cheer louder and chant "We Still Love You". Hook got booed, I think that has literally never happened before.

The crowd in Wales loved seeing PAC -- not Welsh but close enough -- and he got to hit the Black Arrow for the win. But the real match MVPs were Lio Rush and Claudio, with Lio launching himself at top speeds around the ring, practically climbing Claudio at one point to evade a giant swing, and eventually Claudio having perfect timing to intercept Lio's topé dive with an uppercut.
