AEW Collision: August 31, 2024 (& Rampage, August 30)
August 31, 2024 5:00 PM - Season 2, Episode 12 - Subscribe

Collision tonight becomes The Conglomeration's night to shine, as this three-men-and-a-lady faction takes in an adjunct luchador member for a six-man tag, FTR takes out their agressions on the Undisputed Kingdom, and a women's four-way with Queen Aminata.

The announced card for Collision:

-Queen Aminata vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Serena Deeb vs. Thunder Rosa in a four-way

-Tomohiro Ishii vs. Kyle Fletcher

-Matt Taven and Mike Bennett vs. “FTR” Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler

-Lee Moriarty, Johnny TV, and The Beast Mortos vs. Orange Cassidy, Hologram, and Kyle O’Reilly

Orange Cassidy had to touch Hologram to make sure he was real and brother, I can relate. If he didn't have a visible navel I would assume Tony Khan grew him in a lab.

Among the last minute announcements:

Komander will face Buddy Matthews tonight
Bang Bang Gang vs. The Premiere Athletes tonight
AND
Collision will air on Friday before Rampage next week to make room for ALL OUT next week, which means it's going head-to-head against WWE Smackdown

Undisputed Kingdom's Bennett and Taven proved surprisingly formidable before FTR finally put them away, only for Grizzled Young Veterans to appear again, as they did on Rampage the night before, to strut around and say their tired of being in their shadow. There's an element of truth to this, as GYV joined WWE when FTR left and got constant comparisons up until their firing.

Another unannounced multi-person match, this time with enough colorful gimmicks to be a guaranteed pleaser, at least to me: Iron Savages + Turbo Floyd vs Top Flight -- which seems to be a full faction now with the addition of Leila Grey as their flight attendant and Action Andretti plus Lio Rush in pilot's uniforms. Some great spots, including all four of them pitching in to suplex the biggest member of the Savages, and Floyd spinning like a club kid on the apron.

Quote from my watching group on the Ishii/Fletcher fight: "Ishii has been having a secret G1 tournament all his own this past month". What a very very Japan-style match, complete with Kyle Fletcher delivering a "that seemed too real" piledriver to end it.

The women's 4-way was a good match, except with Deeb and Aminata teaming up for most of it the match took on more of a 2-on-2 feel. Shida was the right choice to win, but unfortunately that means she's likely to lose to Mercedes Moné for the TBS title, I just don't see the company swapping it yet.
