I'm a bit dismayed about Flint being front and center a lot, when there's so many others characters to explore. Hopefully, we'll dig more into their backgrounds.

But reveal of that threesome on top of Jack, Anne and Max is really something.

Hopefully Charles and Flint won't kill each other, as both are too intriguing.

Overall, I'm still liking the series, but it does seem to be going out of its way to find reasons for them not to go for the gold. The addition of the governor's daughter as ransom is a bit over the top. Either work out the getting of the gold this season or move on story wise.

I can only think that Max (that cajun accented wonderfully manipulative wench) is supposed to be Mary Read, who historically was involved with Rackham and Bonny. (And warning, like with any show based loosely on history, a visit to wikipedia is rife with small spoilers.) Perhaps they are going to bring out Mary Read in a later season though.

At first I thought Max was very interested in getting them a crew so they'd go off and leave her to run the brothel, while she's still getting a share from their sea exploits. But now she's keen to bewitch them both for no good reason that I can figure out. She constantly seems to have all the right cards, but overplay her hand, so maybe that's occurring here.

Or maybe she wants a wedge between Rackham and Bonny, but with Rackham as best bud and not Bonny, as they originally thought.

I think Max could go either way (no pun intended) - she sees that Jack's proving harder to deal with than she expected, so she's working things from a different angle.

I *fully* expect that by the time the Walrus finally manages to get back to the gold, they'll have just missed it and they'll have to set off in hot pursuit. The way things are shaping up, by the time that happens they may have to contend with Captain Jack Rackham as well.

Course that's in the more distant future - in the more immediate present, I'm wondering if Vane found a way up to that room that bypassed Eleanor somehow, or if she basically gave him her blessing to go up there and murder Flint.

Eleanor has definitely been leaning more in Charles' direction lately, possibly with good reason. Flint wants to be king of the island and it's doubtful Elanor wants to bow down to anyone. Sure, she's being a bit more in the back seat with Vane, but that's probably a mixture of emotional and practicality. She still has some feelings for him and Flint is shaping to be someone she can't control. So why not stick with the guy who will literally cut off the head of pirate who is giving you problems?
