No one's posted this? Huh. Okay.

I finally caught up with this last night (it just ... wasn't a priority for me? I wasn't the target audience for Goosebumps when it came out) and was surprised how much I liked it.

As a horror movie for grownups? Abject failure. But a) it's for kids, and b) it's mostly a comedy, and c) unlike most comedies I've seen, most of the jokes landed for me. My partner and I were just delighted by this. It was good fun.

This was a surprisingly fun romp for my wife and I, who are both too old to have read the original books. Jack Black dials it back enough for it to avoid being The Jack Black Show, and the rest of the cast is allowed to stretch their comedic legs.
