Stargate SG-1: Hathor
October 23, 2024 11:05 AM - Season 1, Episode 13 - Subscribe
A Gou'ald, who has taken on the persona of the Egyptian sex goddess Hathor, casts her deadly spell over all the men on the Stargate base.
The Goa'uld queen, Hathor, named after the Egyptian sex goddess, awakens after being discovered in her Sarcophagus in Mexico and makes her way to Stargate Command. She begins to exert her influence on the men of the base in order to start building her new Jaffa army. Soon, with all the males loyal to her, it is up to the females of the base to stop Hathor before it's too late.

On the other hand, a cameo from the Netscape browser?
I think they needed to pick either camp or “realism”/horror to make this one work. The juxtaposition of Hathor’s whole sartorial vibe and the ‘hey sailor’ prison break with dazed (traumatized?) Daniel Jackson is jarring.

Oh dear. Haven't watched this one yet. Will get back when I do. But it certainly sounds like a minefield of potentially awful storytelling choices that... I'm sure they'll negotiate with delicacy and grace.

On paper, somewhere there's a one line synopsis that kind of works pretty well. Somewhere there was a disconnect and we end up with the Hathor mess.
Daniel Jackson was basically raped (100% could not consent) by a Goa'uld to create more Goa'uld and that is so messed up based on everything his character has been through up to that point. That alone is a major failure in this episode.
The scene where the women are using their "wiles" to get the guards to drop their..well, guard, felt two seconds away from being some kind of awful pornographic film. All it needed was Doctor Fraiser to holler that there was a problem with the plumbing and needed someone to come in and fix it. The scene should have been cut and the part where the women + Teal'c ban together to take down Hathor would have been the best way to end the episode. Instead, it still required Jack, a man, to strategize how to overcome the situation. This was setup as a girl power episode but it was also undermined in that capacity.
There was no explanation or clear way for Hathor to have escaped her birthing tub and suddenly activate the gate and leave. She's in one place, then another. It's like someone asked "How does Hathor escape between these scens?" And the answer was, "We'll do it in Post."
The baby goa'uld looked like someone threw bags of fake rubber shrimp into a hot tub and it was both awful looking and hilarious.

If I recall correctly, this is the episode that the actors hate the most.
