Legit question: I have never watched any of the currently popular Drag Race shows but this flavour of this one speaks to me. Can I just watch it without any previous context for any drag show?

Absolutely! This show isn't affiliated with Drag Race in any way. They just both are drag reality tv competition shows.
I started watching the show that season having not watched any other seasons or drag shows. You should be able to jump in and just start watching as the structure is very simple. Each episode (aside from the first and the last) is composed of three challenges: a "curse", a performance, and an extermination. The curse challenges are involving competitors competing for the ability to level a "curse" on another performer. Curses include things like tying a competitor's arm behind their back or limiting them to a compact while prepping for the performance challenge. Performance challenges involve competitors being given specific themes and instructions for a floorshow performance. They are also judged by 2 two guest judges in addition to the Boulets and those guest judges are usually individuals well known in the horror and/or drag community. And extermination challenges are only for the 2 weakest performers to determine who will leave. On rare occasion there will be a week where no one is exterminated due to extenuating circumstances.

Personally, I dislike the extermination challenges. I don't like to see people literally tortured even if they agree to it. I'd prefer if the elimination challenges were performance oriented or less physically painful (like involving electric shocks). Things like the bungee jump I'm ok with, but the electrified maze not so much.
