In October 1991, a confluence of weather conditions combined to form a killer storm in the North Atlantic. Caught in the storm was the sword-fishing boat Andrea Gail.

You know, I used to watch this every time it came on cable back in the day. It's a pretty good movie and has reminded me often that whatever happens out in the briny deeps is none of my fucking business.

yeah, this movie has some elements I find a bit hokey, but as a disaster movie, its pretty good. it really conveys the vast hugeness of the ocean and the immensity of storms that can blow up in a way that was quite terrifying!

This is one of the 10 or so films I feel like I can see an infinite number of times and not get tired of watching.

I read this book. I particularly remember the bit where the author described drowning - moment to moment - from the amount of rain falling through the air the character was breathing. Fuuuuuck.

That big wave.

What's absolutely bonkers is that I have seen this movie many times and when that scene happens, I still hold my breath and think they are going to make it! Every time!

Only seen it once - but it utterly terrified me. The ocean is too big, too scary, and just NOPE. Really captured the magnitude and scale of what is almost unbelievable.

Having said that - I absolutely love watching videos of the amazing creatures that live in the ocean!
