When the Machine produces the social security number of a judge renowned for his tough sentencing, Reese and Finch have the added challenge of investigating a POI who wants nothing to do with their brand of vigilante justice.
A judge's son is abducted to ensure he let's a woman, Angela Markham, on trial for a hit and run under the influence go. Finch realizes Markham works at a tech company that designs software capable of detecting money-laundering transactions. She oversaw the installation of the software at OneState Bank, and Finch figures that she deactivates the software to let SP-9 launder millions of dollars safely through the bank hence their investment in getting her exonerated.

Yeah, in my first-watch the E4/5/6 block feels like where the show found its feet.

they cast an excellent actor (David Costabile, Gale from Breaking Bad)
Yes. To counter, though: partner leaned over to me during the SP-9 dude's ruzzzian-acksent performance and muttered "remember the evil Kermit from Muppets Most Wanted?" and oof yes.
