That was actually frightening when Solo becomes aggressive against Juliette when she suggests that he might not be "Solo."

Good acting and all but I’m not convinced enough plot is happening. Julia especially spending the whole episode looking for a helmet seems wasteful.

I thought the Solo question was going to be solved this episode - I do love the shots of the ruined silo, but I’m not into dragging out of the plot line. Presumably they want to fit the return of Juliette to a very tense point in the silo civil war, and they can’t have the solo/juliette plot line disappear for a while as they move the civil war plot forward.

Not quite sure what Camille Sims' plan is here - just messing up Bernard's plans in the hope that somehow it'll work out better for her husband? Am I missing something?

This feels like exactly what they're doing. Though now I'm curious why the powers that be in Silo 18 felt they needed to censor the ending of Romeo and Juliet. Odd. I thought part of her storyline was she was looking for medicine as clearly she's dealing with an infection from her arm...but nah, just the helmet. I guess antibiotics are next week's episode. I'm also waiting for Solo to freak out and lock her up or something.

Bernard sidelined her husband's future career as his replacement. I feel like Camille is out to take whatever steps necessary to put it back on track, including removing Bernard from the equation.

I felt it was a bit of strong foreshadowing to have Lukas pull up a schematic to show Bernard, which showed the external powerline to IT that Solo mentions to Juliette earlier in the episode. Not so much that feature as the "unexplained" line leaving from Mechanical. That's got to be some kind of connection to a central hub for the silos, or at worse, to another silo. Solo sharing about how the pump situation occurred from an overzealous raider also made me wonder if we might see something similar here.

Other observation...why would a society want its mining component, arguably one of the most valuable aspects of its survival, to be so incredibly dangerous? Obtaining raw resources should be considered a position you want people to gain lots of experience and expertise in, not be incapable of surviving five years in. I suppose this is the problem with the story, at least in this format, when you create a closed system like this, sometimes story and plot jump ahead thoughts like the above. I dunno!

Built-in punishment? Like, a Siberian gulag?

Adam Savage visits the Silo art department and sets for a behind the scenes tour with the art director. Some spoilers for future episodes if you don't know what's behind the vault door (which he geeks out about because it's a very nice practical vault door).

I had no idea how much of the set was practical. They have built two floors of the silo and re-dress it based on the scene, as well as lots of alley ways and apartments. Really neat to see how they film it!

Yeah, I guess I just think it's a plan with a lot of potential for backlash, from someone who seems to think this stuff through a little more.

Or the mines are a make-work project to get some value of undesirables instead of sending them out to clean. There are plenty of “pre-screened” couples waiting to have a baby so all the better if the mines are a gulag…

It's probably a combination of things - one is that overpopulation is probably the biggest internal risk to the silos, as evidenced by the birth control pills. But the population will still be hard to control even if 90% of the couples are magically infertile. People living longer than expected and etc. So you need to have away to blow off that pressure, right? Off to the mines!

And honestly, I got the impression cleaning and the mines were opposite ends of the spectrum. Going out to clean is what you do when you get sick and tired of the silo, of the pact, of the whole ball of wax, so it's all "fuck this noise, I want out" and out you go. While mining is what the silo does when it's tired of _you_. Whatever little trumped up charge the powers that be figure they can stick on you and off to the mines you go!

And yeah, it'll turn out that t here's actually a behind-locked-doors tunnel between silos for the IT power and data cross connect, so Juliette can just scoot back to Bernard any old time after delaying making the suit for long enough.

I don't think Camille necessarily wants what's best for her husband; her guidance has gotten him into hot water over and over, not to mention increasing his paranoia. I mean, she just could be bad at giving advice, but it seems calculated to me.

Hrm. Just saying, Fallout released in 1997, the stories that inspired Silo in 2011. Just getting too much of the (spolier?) "The Fallout vaults are set up as different social experiments."

Apple TV+ renews hit, world-building drama “Silo” for seasons three and four

Fourth season will be the final season, which should be more than enough runtime to stick the landing.

Hugh Howey is a self admitted fan of the original turn based games.

My impression is Camille Sims represents some new hidden faction of power within the Silo. I forget, what do we know about her? She was a Raider, then worked in IT? Is she working now or is she stay-at-home mom?

Whatever the case she clearly has a lot of resources, knowledge, and skills.
