When the team investigates a rather insignificant planet, a decrepit resident asks for protection from a pursuer. As it turns out, however, it is a murderer and SG 1 ends up together with him, on trial.

First introduction of Linea! Just an amazing idea too to create cold fusion from organic ingredients. What a huge swing.

I will say I think their own guilt around letting her go is super misplaced. They were imprisoned by a super unjust system/trial, that's their fault not SG-1s.

Is this the first time we see General Hammond off-world? I think it is, big step in season 2 for him :)

Interesting too around the prison society/order side of things. I could have done without the threats of violence towards Sam specifically, but did appreciate Daniel thinking he won through guile or whatever, not realizing Linea's hand device.

I do think Carter should feel loads of blame for flat-out ignoring Linnea’s self-reported guilty story and then being an unbelievable rube with respect to base and gate-specific Infosec once they return.

But also cooing for General Hammond going off world for the first time and being adorably nervous about it.

Yeah the infosec for sure, but they were totally swindled by the Taldor, so a story like that makes sense given their own life imprisonment for nothing.

I think this is a good example of the writing supporting the characters' actions. SG-1 had no reason not to believe the inmates after the wreck that is the justice system railroaded them into a life sentence. And maybe the Taldor could have developed a penal system that did not mingle people who steal bread with people who commit genocide. Just a thought!

Carter got to geek out with another woman and got carried away. I can give her pass, too.

We don't get Hammond out of the SGC very much do we? Not off the top of my head. Don Davis was just perfectly cast for the job of Hammond. I remember watching Davis pop up in a movie or somewhere where he's playing a major or colonel or something and it was so distracting because "CLEARLY THIS MAN IS A GENERAL."

And wasn’t he an admiral as Scully’s dad in X-files?

I was forced to bail after 10 minutes, but the very first episode of Twin Peaks has him sitting in a kitchen wearing some sort of airforce uniform and it was DISTRACTING AS HELL.

(edited to add)

Ok so I just checked the Twins Peak wiki and EXCUSE ME

Don Sinclair Davis, PhD was an American character actor... best known for his role as Major Garland Briggs on Twin Peaks....

Davis was also well-known for playing General George Hammond on Stargate SG-1.

Dudes you've got that all the way backwards.

A'ight, they are coming from a bias point of view. But now I have a bigger reason to watch Twin Peaks so I can understand the log lady and not just be aware of her.

Having watched SG-1 long before I saw Twin Peaks, the synchronicity of his two roles is wild.
