Gilmore Girls: Lost & Found

Rory can't find the bracelet Dean made for her. Luke and Jess can't keep living in that tiny converted apartment. Lorelai can't go up on ladders anymore.
Lorelai's got a bandaged wound on her hand, but won't go to the hospital about it. When the gals get to the diner, Caesar is cooking, and since his pancakes are apparently unacceptable, Lorelai heads upstairs to find Luke, where it looks like a bomb went off in his apartment. (LORELAI: "This is what I always pictured the inside of my head to look like!") After some banter about their respective crises, Lorelai finds the ledger that Luke was looking for and holds it hostage until she gets what she wants. (Tristan may be gone, but his spirit is not forgotten!)
Luke's situation: Jess's mom finally shipped the rest of his stuff over, and with these two sloppy dudes and all of their possessions, there's just simply not enough room in this "apartment" that used to be Luke's dad's office. They need to find a new place, Lorelai insists. Luke objects, since moving is a pain and Jess is going to be gone in a year or so in any case, but Lorelai reminds him that he might not always be living alone. He'll think about it.
Lorelai's situation: She tried to clean their rain gutters herself and nearly fell off the roof, injuring her hand. She doesn't want to spend the money to hire someone to clean them for her. Luke suggests that she hire Jess to do it, since he could use some extra cash but Lorelai wouldn't have to pay him like he's people. She'll think about it.
Rory being a good kid helps convince Lorelai to give Jess a chance. Jess being an inconsiderate jackass helps convince Luke that they need to find a new place. They check out a lot of apartments the next morning, but can't agree on any of them, and Jess has to take off to go clean gutters anyway.
At the Gilmore house, Lorelai is showing off her new Barnyard Animals CD/Radio Alarm Clock that I guess she bought with the money saved by not hiring professionals for stuff. Jess arrives (with a Shaggs CD for Rory, which is pretty cool) and Lorelai tries to play nice. Jess is less rude than usual, but still pretty monosyllabic, and so Rory gives him a talking to out on the porch that makes it clear to Jess (if not yet to Rory herself) that she's trying to lay the groundwork for them being able to go out at some point.
Later, Rory and Dean have been at the Town Square Book Fair for hours, most of which Dean has spent sitting on a stoop and waiting. They make a deal that Rory can keep looking around if they can go see The Lord of The Rings for the nth time again afterwards, which Rory is less than enthusiastic about. So things are going great there even before Dean notices that Rory's not wearing the bracelet he made for her and Rory makes up a lie about a rash to cover for it.*
At the Gilmore house, Lorelai sucks it up and invites Jess in for a lunch of leftover Chinese food, and Jess sucks it up and accepts. They both make efforts to be cooler towards one another, and it starts to get more genuinely friendly and natural just as Rory bursts in panicking about the bracelet. Lorelai matches her stress-level and they head out to search the town for it, even enlisting Michel to crawl on the floor in his nice Armani suit to look for it at the Inn.
Luke calls Lorelai about the apartment-hunt, and she meets him to check out a place that seems viable. The realtor mistakes them for a couple, and Lorelai goes along with it because it amuses her, and she advises Luke to sign on the place. When Lorelai gets home, she finds Jess coming out of Rory's room, and he claims that he was checking out Rory's books, which Lorelai doesn't believe for a second.
Taylor runs into Luke with some questions about his apartment application, because it turns out that Taylor has been buying up buildings all over town (and also that he will openly defend at least some aspects of fascism) and also wants to purchase the flower shop next to the diner. So Luke won't be taking that apartment after all.
Rory returns home dejected because she hasn't found the bracelet, and talks to Jess, who asks why it's so important (things are already weird with Dean and he'll probably read something into Rory losing it) and suggests that she check her room again. So she does, and finds it laying under her bed, and runs off to tell Lane she can stop praying.
Lorelai steps outside to pay Jess for his work and accuse him of stealing the bracelet. He denies it, she calls him a jerk, and says that the theft didn't hurt Dean, but hurt Rory, and that the bracelet is the most precious thing she owns. Jess points out that it took her two weeks to notice it was missing, and Lorelai orders him to leave.
Then she walks back in and Luke (who really must have run into Jess just outside) pounds on the door pissed off that he just spent $100,000 on a whim to buy the building next to the diner before Taylor could get his hands on it. He blames Lorelai for this. She convinces him that there are a lot of things he could do with the building, and that he should consider keeping it. She asks him if he knows anything about Jess and Rory. He doesn't but he's excited about the idea of it, since Rory is a great kid and could be a good influence on him. Weirdly, Lorelai doesn't seem to see it from that perspective.
Luke goes back to the converted apartment and knocks a hole in the wall to his new adjacent building, and tells Jess that that's gonna be his room.
*Jess found the bracelet on the Jess Bridge after their picnic date in "A Tisket, a Tasket", and we see him with it when Rory calls him at the end of that episode, neither of which I noticed when writing up that episode, because TBH I often just listen to this show. Apologies for not mentioning that as it happened. Though he didn't actually steal it, it was still a dick move not to return it to Rory (who was right there) when he found it, but also, teenagers are teenagers.
