RuPaul's Drag Race: Born Naked
March 3, 2015 10:23 AM - Season 7, Episode 1 - Subscribe

Fourteen new queens! x Four looks each! = Fifty-six opportunities to wow the audience! (Some of them did! Two of them thought that pretending to read a magazine while walking was glamorous! Half of them... it's still too early to match names and faces.)

Also featuring one (1) new Pit Crew* member, one (1) dynamite Anna Wintour impression by Alaska, two (2) female queens** and zero (0) She-Mail.

*Apparently no longer sponsored by Scruff?
**Michelle and Kathy, deconstructing "realness" with aplomb!

That was not my favorite season premiere ever. I always like the introductions, and these felt rushed. Why did we have to see three looks from each queen in one episode? It didn't help identify the queens at all, and didn't give us time for any interactions, which is what I love most about the show.

Also, I know that the departing queen was the worst, but that's the second season in a row where an older contestant was let go first. Are all the drag queens above 35 either so bad or so good that they're unfit for the show?

I think a plus-sized queen is going to win this year. It seems like that's the only "type" who hasn't won so far.

I enjoyed it well enough, although it helped that watched the premiere at a viewing "party" with Max Malanaphy (who IRL is a million feet tall and very very sweet.)

It's weird watching TV while one of the people on the show is actually in the room. Something in the back of my mind just says WITCHCRAFT.

Alaska as Anna Wintour was absolutely hilarious.

xingcat, have you seen Tempest's "Whatcha packin'?"

Because if you weren't bummed about her leaving so soon before, you will be after. The clothes are amazing, and Tempest just radiates chill good vibes, and does a great Big Ang.

Can anyone recommend a good recap now that Tom and Lorenzo aren't doing it? I like that they included pictures of all the looks, and haven't seen that in other recaps.

louche, I haven't checked out any of the extras yet, but I will.

And also, now that they've dropped both Project Runway and Drag Race, I can finally ignore Tom & Lorenzo. Their path may lead to bigger and better things, but they've gotten quite shrill and self-involved since they decided they were fashionistas instead of fun people who liked to talk about TV.

Well, we're fun people who like to talk about TV.

Speaking of the extras, PASS on the Pandora recap. She's biting Wilma Fingerdoo's delivery, except for the "being funny" part. She's not even wearing a funny little hat.

It doesn't have as many photos, but Previously.TV has pretty good recaps, and the comment section is usually engaging too.

I wasn't really wowed by this premiere either. Who do you think will make it to the end? No one really stands out.

I liked Kennedy Davenport. Hoping she doesn't get annoying.

And don't forget that Mefi's Own Help, I can't stop talking! is recapping for Queerty.

Trixie Mattel seems out-there and smart, which has been a winning combo in the past.
