Masters accepts Libby's offer to help compile the study work, but when he sees another doctor's presentation put his colleagues to sleep, he becomes determined to grab their attention - even if it means pushing through provocative, but incomplete, research. Dr. DePaul and Johnson travel to a medical convention and DePaul opens up on why her work on the Pap smear is so important. Virginia's ex-husband George returns to find Ethan Haas playing father to his children.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series. The DePaul & Johnson road trip, that they have reached a place of mutual respect and friendship after such a prickly start was just beautiful. Bill's panic spiral into bad eye-catching science over boring truth foreshadows his future willingness to fake the science on gay conversion therapy.

And Ethan. I never would have expected to like a character who in his first episode hit a woman for rejecting him. But they did a really good job of redeeming him. Or maybe it's knowing that he is romantically doomed, that the names "Hass & Johnson" are not the ones that history remembers. Watching him watching Virginia singing, looking so blissfully adoring, and all I can do is shake my head thinking 'oh, you poor bastard.'

I am so impressed by the DePaul character. I find her completely believable, and portrayed with such economy it's a beauty to watch.

The only thing I don't enjoy in the show is the overdone orgasms.

I liked the shadow Virginia that stalked Bill throughout the episode...

We broke our rule of one episode a day because fallout was just so gut wrenching. End of the world, indeed.
