Veep: Election Night

Selina and the team wait out election night.
I am very excited to see villainous Tom James next season, as I found him most interesting when he was working counter to Selina's agenda (which was mostly toward the end of the season, but maybe upon a re-watch some of his earlier actions might be cast in a new light?).
I also love that Selina runs to Amy to be comforted, and finds that time spent with her daughter always feels longer than it actually is.
MVP for me this season, however, is Sam Richardson. I found myself constantly hoping I would see him in each new scene.

Aaaand we have the setup for Selina to be veep again. I also didn't realize that Katherine's middle name was Selina. Not sure how I missed that.
Selina's hug was so perfect, especially as she went rag doll in Amy's arms.
Sue! "Politics is boring" I love Sue. Her commentary about Amy being a mixture of narcissism and self-loathing, but ending with the comment "I like her" was just so very, very perfect.

Neat continuity note I realized recently: Selina's opponent Bill O'Brien made an appearance all the way back in Season 1, Episode 4 ("Chung") as the head of the unsavory group of racist senators Amy and Dan are sent to negotiate with. "You know, the guy who wants to search random people in ponchos?" It adds some much-needed stakes to the election to know her opponent is such an ideologue.
Also, I thought the stuff about VP James becoming back-door president was a bit of procedural handwavium to bolster the irony of the show's title, but it turns out that actually is how it works. The same law also allows each house of Congress to select a President and Veep from different parties, which would be a fascinating direction to explore next season -- note that O'Brien's running mate Laura Montez (interesting choice for such a nativist) has remained firmly offscreen since first being mentioned.

I think this was the first time that was revealed. And it's perfect in a "Sterling Malory Archer" sort of way.
