Oh, the fan dance. Everyone's reactions are so perfect. Dot's and Hugh's shock, Bert & Cec's enthusiasm, Jack's little smile and 'lord, take me now' resignation to the inevitable.

Phryne/Jack UST callouts:

Phryne: That was close
Jack [face in Phryne's bosom]: It still is.
Phryne: Give me a good head start?
Jack: As always.

Jack: You're waving a red rag at a bull, Miss Fisher. But I'm no longer in that ring.
Phryne: Olé

Jack's reaction to the fan dance was the moment Jack/Phryne became one of my RIDE OR DIE ships. I loved so much that he wasn't shocked or embarrassed or jealous or mad or any of the other things any number of other men would be if the object of their affection stripped in public. He just looked so affectionate and unsurprised, it was lovely. Also lovely, the total lack of judginess from Jack or really anyone else.

Yes! Absolutely! This is one of my favorite moments for them. It could have been played for laughs, too (Jack looking totally stunned because tits), but the simultaneously impressed and exasperated air was just, like, pitch-perfect.

Ha, I came in here to say exactly the same thing about the fan dance reaction.

And that last scene with the two of them has incredible chemistry.

Can I also state that I appreciate that for once both the female and the male leads are good-looking? I can totally believe they would fall for each other.

I also liked Jack's reaction to his ex-wife. It just seemed mature, and about what I'd expect from male partners in real life - friendly, but also acknowledging that that ship has sailed. It's a relief to a see a mature man on TV once in a while.
