BoJack Horseman: After the Party First Watch
August 11, 2015 12:56 PM - Season 2, Episode 4 - Subscribe
Mr. PB throws Diane a surprise 35th birthday party; Wanda tells Bojack a joke; Todd's cellular phone has feelings for ?; Carolyn finds out a secret about Vincent; and more.
Diane is disappointed at Mr. Peanut Butter's efforts (like arranging Sir Paul McCartney to jump out of a cake) to throw her a birthday party; she becomes more annoyed with him because he doesn't take Diane for her word regarding multiple times that Tony Curtis dead.
Vincent and Princess Carolyn break up although Vincent (and Kevin, one of the 3 children comprising Mr. Adultman) manages not to reveal his true identity (of being 3 children) to Carolyn. Through assumptions and lies of omission, she believes Mr. Adultman was an adult male with a family who was cheating on his wife with Carolyn. This along with Vincent's evasiveness, is the motive for Carolyn to break up with Vincent.
Wanda tells a joke with considerable time before the punch to Bojack which highlights Bojack's desire for immediate gratification and is an example of Wanda's perception and experience of time.

I loved the merry mix-ups that allowed Vincent to continue his charade. I'm glad PC dumped him though, the joke only has so much mileage, I think.

Favorite parts of this one:
"You weren't too bored by 'Women on the Wall: An Exploration of Gender in Text and Media, Barbara Kruger and Jenny Holzer in conversation with Helen Molesworth'?"
"Are you kidding? I loved 'Women on the Wall: An Exploration of Gender in Text and Media, Barbara Kruger and Jenny Holzer in conversation with Helen Molesworth.'"
"You're lucky I love shimmying."
The lightning fast romance between Todd and Princess Carolyn's phones.
"Mr. Peanutbutter, you know I love you and think you're a good dog. Yes, you are. Yes, you are, and I love your cute, funny face"
I'm a little disappointed that we lost the (tiny) possibility that Vincent was actually a strange-looking and strange-sounding man with a broom for a hand (this is a very weird universe after all). Once that's gone the whole deal about PC not being able to see the obvious seemed over-done by now. I'm glad she moved on.

Diane and Mr Peanutbutter need to read the emotional labour thread.

I wonder if Diane would have cooled off faster if she realized that Sir Paul McCartney was actually in the cake?
I am still holding out hope that Vincent and Kevin are separate people that coincidentally look very similar. We don't know who the other hypothetical two kids are, do we? Or did I forget?

I love every one of Vincent's lines, but frankly I was surprised when he showed up in a second episode, way back when.

That's the whole thing with Vincent, and that JC wants the relationship so bad! Voiced by Alison Brie!

I loved the artistic style change as Wanda told both halves of the joke. There are many instances this season of the art really stepping up to serve the storyline and this was one of them.
