Danger 5: I Danced For Hitler
May 10, 2014 9:48 AM - Season 1, Episode 1 - Subscribe

The first episode of this Australian comedy show lays out the absurd premise of the world the main characters live in: It's the 1960s and Hitler still rules most of Europe. A courageous band of international spies tries to kill him. Also, bears can play the piano really fast.

RiYL: Police Squad, Top Secret, Children's Hospital, Get Smart.

For US viewers the show is available on Hulu for free. (and its prequel on Youtube).

This show was terrific, and became an omnipresent meme among our group when we first watched it a couple of years ago. It was made by the people who made Italian Spiderman, and actually improves on it in most ways. It's a shame they haven't made more than one season -- to my knowledge.

There was actually a pilot too, The Diamond Girls, that if I remember right was posted to YouTube.

On Wikipedia they counted that as a Prequel so I figured we had to start with this one. God it's so good if I ever have another spare hour I'll post more.

That's great news! Our group's going to be tickled to hear about it! Now let's get out there and kill Hitler!

I like absurd humour & watched this show when it screened on TV. There's some moments of comedy greatness, but I find it very difficult to watch. I know a lot of Jewish people through my work, including holocaust survivors & children of holocaust survivors. Most of them avoid all TV/movies related to that era, and who can blame them.
I've worked in a very Jewish area since 2006, so have a lot of strong relationships with some Jewish clients. It's really odd when they they give me, an athiest, Christmas/Easter presents, but lots of them they do.
Seeing that this was on FanFare, we replayed the first episode & got up to the bit with the branding & at that point I was NOPE. DONE HERE.

I did some awful sentencing there, I just don't have the words and I re-wrote the above a few times and mangled it in the process. The more I think about this the more it hurts my head.

Then, sadly, you missed the subsequent scene with the dogbot.

That RIYL list seems to be missing Garth Marenghi's Dark Place and The Spoils of Babylon (I think - haven't seen it).
