Fresh Off the Boat: The Big 1-2
November 12, 2015 8:21 AM - Season 2, Episode 7 - Subscribe

It’s Eddie’s 12th birthday and he doesn't want his family to do anything special, really. This concerns Louis and Jessica, who discuss the rules of the house and how they might be lightened. Meanwhile, Emery and Evan purposely misbehave to gain attention from their parents.

Jessica's line - "I don't understand. You only have one self. I'm always myself. It doesn't matter where I am." - was perfection. That's her in a nutshell. (Also, she took Honey's bowl of potato chips back home with her. Heh.)

I don't know what sort of noodle takes six hours to cook, but I sure want to find out!

I actually googled the noodles because I too want whatever type of noodle takes 6hrs to cook. The best I can figure is that they are Longevity Noodles, but the 6 hour part is made up unless she's making the noodles from scratch in the most painstaking way possible.

This episode was emotional for me because my boyfriend began to suspect that I might be more of a Jessica as a mother. I don't think that's true, and I also don't think it's a bad thing if it were true.

Some of the AV Club comments pointed out that the timing doesn't really make sense for the boys being grounded for staying up late if the noodles took six hours -- Eddie didn't come back from Dave's until after midnight, so, it would have been breakfast already after 6 hours. But, the joke is worth the continuity confusion.
