I liked the story of the week quite a bit. It was a nice change of pace from suspect someone, eliminate, repeat.

For some reason I'm not interested in the 'who shot Morland' story. They're awesome together, but it feels like wheel spinning and the stuff about Sherlock's mom didn't land for me.

I was kind of hoping that Soleil would be Sherlock's half-sister. I miss his sibling issues.

Also: "Everyone within a hundred miles of Montreal has a sexy French name. It'd look weird if I didn't" = "I want to have some fun on this boring-ass mission you've dragged me on." Maybe?

I was mostly just happy to see James Hong.

The line "There's no such thing as a master of disguise. If there were, I would be one." was quintessential Sherlock Holmes.

Also love to see James Hong in anything!

some weeks ago i said i worried that watson would be sidelined in the sherlock/father plot and so far that has been pretty true, and disappointing. i'm a little lost in the who shot morland plot right now, but i trust they'll wrap it back up in a satisfying way. i think soliel could still be his half sister - we'll see.

...the mother part. oof. man. i just don't know how i feel about that yet. it does show that for all these years morland has been trying to protect sherlock - but it seems like maybe when your child is struggling with an addiction, knowing the family history - especially for a guy like sherlock - would be useful information. and if morland had shared that information in kindness instead of in petty anger (especially since he considers cutting her off as the pettiest thing he's ever done) it could have maybe started to heal something between them. it's far more human for it to have come lashing out, i suppose.
