I like the AV Club title: "The Assassination of Linda’s Couch by the Coward Louise Belcher".

This was definitely my favorite episode from 2016.

"It smells like if all the food we've spilled on it had a war with all the butts that sat on it."

This episode upset me. The couch is unusable! They bought a new couch! It was new!

I form ridiculous attachments to objects. I know what it's like to cry over a couch. But sometimes, you just have to cry and move on. They should've found a way to say goodbye and let it go.

I thought the same, meese, but I suppose the animators were also emotionally attached to drawing the old couch.

Teddy: Good news! Someone picked up the couch!
The Belchers: Nooooo!
Teddy: You guys react weird to good news.
Gene: Yeees!

"Many of you feel bad for this lamp. That is because you're crazy. It has no feelings! And the new one is much better."

I continue to adore BB, but one of the great things about the show—that it is reasonable and realistic in how it tells stories about a family that doesn't not have a lot of money, in ways that very few other shows are—makes the burning of the expensive new couch for a grand gesture really out of step with that greatness. Still a lot of funny moments in there, but I was left with the slightest little scowl at the end.

"Not having a lot of money" does not define them nearly as much as does "being a bunch of weirdos who would totally burn an expensive new couch for a grand gesture".

Not a word about the Sofa Queen? A hilarious character and a funny reference that made the episode for me.
