Holiday Movie Club 2016

With November fast approaching, let's plan for the 2016 Holiday Movie Club!

In the past, we've watched movies from about American Thanksgiving (24 NOV) to New Years Day (1 JAN), at the pace of about 2 a week.
Movies can deal with holiday themes, be set at the holidays, or generally be holiday traditions for you and yours.
Please propose movies to include, or rewatch from previous years (especially if watching a movie again is a tradition!)

Proposed Movies:

Ernest Saves Christmas
The Long Kiss Goodnight
Home Alone 2
Eyes Wide Shut
Bad Santa
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Elf
The Family Stone
Die Hard 2
Iron Man 3
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

I mean, I hate to suggest the obvious one, but: A Christmas Story? I'm assuming it was left off for a reason, but I'll propose it anyway. I think it's a genuinely great movie, not just a sentimental favorite.

We should rewatch it! Maybe on 25 DEC for the marathon with our eyes peeled.

Yay! The Ref! One of my very favorite Christmas movies!

Let's make it as Shane Black as possible. Lethal Weapon - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Iron Man 3 - The Nice Guys.

Metropolitan. (It's set during the Christmas season debutante balls.)

And I would second "A Christmas Tale" (I assume this is referring to the 2008 French movie with Catherine Deneuve), if only because I'm the only one I know who's seen it, and I'm never quite sure what I think about it.

I would love the chance to discuss Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas.

No holiday season goes by in our house without Scrooge (1951, Alistair Sims, B&W only) and Its a Wonderful Life (B&W only.) Please add!

And what about the best Christmas Carol, The MUPPET Christmas Carol?

If we wanted a FanFare/IRL Holiday Extravaganza Mashup, Central Cinema in Seattle is running a number of these films in December, including Home Alone, Die Hard, The Muppet Christmas Carol, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and Elf.

These are all great ideas!
You can and should add them to the "Upcoming Events" in the Holiday Movie Club. Just pick a date!

Could there be a thread for Hallmark movies this year?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think when the crew of Alien wakes from hypersleep, Parker is decorating a Christmas tree...

If we're doing that sort of thing, "The Godfather" would make sense too.

In the vein of films with a prominent scene set at Christmas, I submit Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander (5 hour version).

I think I'm going to catch Die Hard this weekend at Central Cinema in Seattle--it's paired with Home Alone, which is more or less the same movie. Yippee ki yi yay, ya filthy animal.
