The Magicians: Hotel Spa Potions   Books Included
February 2, 2017 7:18 AM - Season 2, Episode 2 - Subscribe

What's worse than a magical, murdering beast? A magical, murdering beast who sings. Julia turns to an old enemy, while the gang looks for help from a tricky Pixie and some cacodemons, continuing to pull in elements from the books for inspiration.

Book watch: we get to see cacodemons and the binding ceremony, while Penny gets to keep his hands ... for now? As noted at the end of the AV Club review:
Oh man, book things are happening. Structurally, breaking those various plot points over two seasons makes a lot more sense than trying to jam it all in to Season 1.

I don't understand why we don't have 20+ comments here. Why isn't everyone isn't watching this show?!

Why? I can't speak for others but I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that though I enjoyed the books well enough (warts and all) I found that the show, especially this season, has diverged too much from what I liked about the books focusing on the stuff I frankly find fairly weak or diverging in uninteresting ways. That said I think Jason Ralph & Hale Appleman are great and I look forward to seeing them in something else.
