Winslow the weaponized Walker was definitely a new twist.

Love the Daryl/Carol reunion. So sweet!

Another community. I mean, sure over time survivors band together but it seems you can't turn around these days without running into one. How many in the area now? Alexandria, Ezekiel's kingdom, Hilltop, these new guys, the Saviors, the Wolves, the hidden land of women. That's quite a lot to support, all within a day's drive apparently.

No Negan = one of the best episodes this season!

Anyway, seriously, did the King really bring Carol a casserole??? I hope so, because I already love that scene to death (especially where the woman Kingdomer just looked embarassed at her male colleague's behavior), and that would be the icing on the cake.

If I'm not mistaken what Jerry gave Carol was a cobbler, not a casserole. Still a bit weird, though!

Cobbler makes it even better!

"You tripped my wire." Carol almost growls.
"I caught it in time!" The Kingdomer answers brightly.

Seriously, I love that scene to death.

Anyway, in other stuff, I'm looking forward to finding out why the Junkyard Dogs talk they're in a Mad Max movie, and also why their leader is named after Jadis the White Witch.

Finally, Rick hugs Michonne while also trying not to bleed on her. That kind of sums up their relationship.

There's some very adventure-game plotting going on. QUEST COMPLETE: find an ally. YOU HAVE A NEW QUEST: find guns.

Romulans!

The pit fight did have a very strong "Kirk must defeat their champion" vibe to it. And oh God will someone please treat Rick's hand injury? because ew.

No Negan = one of the best episodes this season!

Two in a row without Negan. I'm wondering if they've course-corrected somewhat from the criticisms -- and the sagging ratings -- of the first half's relentless "look at how sadistic Negan is" focus.

And nobody knows about the other ones or ever runs across them by accident.

I don't think so, because... Well, the thread isn't tagged as books included. But it's a thing I'd mention in a books included thread.

(I'd enjoy this show a lot more if it was 100% balls-out Mad Max shit like Ezekiel's tiger and Winslow the super walker all the time.)

And nobody knows about the other ones or ever runs across them by accident.

(Obviously, that seems to have happened with Alexandria and these new guys. But, like, both Alexandria and this group have been around in this area for years. While Alexandria has been actively sending out Aaron to go recruit people. And Aaron didn't run into them or the Saviors or Hilltop or the Kingdom or, or, or...)

They dressed Rick's hand with some of the clean laundry from that very tidy junkyard.

...also why their leader is named after Jadis the White Witch.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed this! Most curious.

I was bothered by the Junkyard crew's reversion to weird toddlerspeak; I felt like the apocalypse had not gone on for long enough for different dialects to form like this. Then they introduced an armour-plated spike-zombie and I was reminded that maybe I was expecting too much on the 'realism' front.

Are they three years into the apocalypse or three hundred? Depends on what the plot requires that week.

Some of us are getting a head-start on the apocalypse.
