Vulture Recap: Macon Haste
Just finally watched this week's episode - I liked it way more than the AV Club recapper did. The word 'rollicking' came to mind, all the twists and misdirects reminded me of the 'heist movie' feel established in season one. They got a surprise laugh out of me with the snakes-in-the-aisle church robbery, and Rosalee knocking out James. The exploding plantation house was a thrill too.
Not sure what to make of August. I mean, I assume he's just trying to use Ernestine to get to Rosalee to get vengeance for Ben, rather than having to hand her over to Patty for her to get Harriet. But do they want us to believe he's had a change of heart? Fool me twice and all. Still, nice directing from Meloni. And finally a well-lit nighttime scene, between Ernestine & August at the campfire. A little harder to see what was happening during the flight & fight scene later (I guess Ernestine's shoulder was dislocated?), but not as indecipherable as some other scenes.
