You're the Worst: Fog of War, Bro

Jimmy has an interview for his book. Gretchen eats all the snacks and moves the bed. And "Mushroom cloud, bitch."
I thought it was a serious turd. It was sitcommy and predicament-based in a way the show rarely sinks to and I was super disappointed. It could hardly have been more rote if Jimmy had accidentally made two dates to the homecoming dance. The characters were used as props in a comedic situation.
And does that ridiculous throwaway about Honey Nutz being 45 mean he's been written off the show?
Ugh. We had to stay up late and watch something else after to clear the bad taste out of our mouths.

I loved the episode. It sort of had the pace of a screwball comedy, which helped reinforce how out-of-control Jimmy's life is becoming. Chris Gere's facial expressions throughout the episode really sold his growing befuddlement and fear. I also liked how, with the exception of a quick jump to Lindsay's apartment, it was all happening in the house. Lindsay and Edgar walking in on Gretchen and wine guard (I forget the character's name) was a cute turnaround from when everyone was walking in on Lindsay and Edgar doing it.

(Allen Maldonado, the actor who plays Honey Nutz, is going to be a regular on Tracy Morgan's new TBS show.)

I'm with DirtyOldTown. I couldn't even finish the episode because it just seemed so cringey to me. I loved the first few episodes of the season but the last couple ... meh. I feel like one of the great things about the first few seasons of the show was that they sort of flirted with both cringe comedy and "haha aren't these people TERRIBLE?" but then would always keep from going to those extremes with some really nuanced humor and character-building. But it seems like this season, especially with Gretchen, they're just leaning hard into "Gretchen is KUH-razy" which I don't find nearly as interesting or fun to watch. And Jimmy just seems like an idiot. Their characters just feel really flat this season.
You know how they say sitcoms eventually wind up turning characters into caricatures? I really hope that's not happening with this show.
