Movie: The Pelican Brief
A law student uncovers a conspiracy, putting herself and others in danger. The best of movies based on John Grisham's legal thrillers (in my opinion). The last film from Alan J. Pakula before his death (And similar to his earlier Paranoia trilogy, Klute, Parallax View and All the President's Men). Memorable Pelican theme by James Horner. Terrific cast. Love this.
Movie: Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese
A 2019 American pseudo-documentary film, composed of both fictional and non-fictional material, covering Dylan's 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue concert tour. Directed by Martin Scorsese, it is the director's second film on Bob Dylan, following 2005's No Direction Home. The bulk of Rolling Thunder Revue is compiled of outtakes from Dylan's 1978 film Renaldo and Clara, which was filmed in conjunction with the tour.

Movie: Cold in July
Based on a Joe Lansdale book, Jim Mickle’s Cold in July is an odd, twisty Texan neo-noir that at first seems straightforward and scary but a mite predictable. Michael C. Almost immediately, he finds himself the focus of the dead man’s vengeful ex-con father. The film is set in the late 80's and has a score that's heavily influenced by John Carpenter. [more inside]
