Mystery Science Theater 3000: THE CHRISTMAS DRAGON
August 3, 2023 2:01 PM - Season 13, Episode 13 - Subscribe

"A Magical Journey to Save Christmas." This supposed kids movie opens with a kid's parents getting killed by a dragon. Merry Christmas! But wait, this is a fantasy world, with magic and dragons, do they have their own version of Jesus? In theme it can't decide if it wants to be Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, but whatever it is it went straight to DVD. Joel, Jonah and Emily hatch a daring plan to escape from Kinga's captivity, but they'll need a little help from an unlikely source. We're at the end of Season 13, and with it we're once again at the end of our trip through all of MST3K. Please see inside.

We've now finished our second trip through every episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000!

I'm not going to do a third one. We are continuing our weekly shows for now, but I'm not going to repost episodes to Fanfare again. Joel and his production company have plans for a 14th season of the show, but they will probably have to wait for the current writer's strike to end. (Joel and the show stand in solidarity with the writers.) Also, they're planning another Kickstarter for Season 14, and that will take time to plan and run as well. When Season 14 comes along, I plan to do Fanfare posts for the new episodes, but that's a way down the road.

Without new Fanfare posts, we won't have a way here to tell you about our shows. If you like Mystery Science Theater 3000 and would like to watch the shows with us? For news, please check my Mastodon account at @rodneylives@mefi.social. For the time being we watch episodes at 9 PM Eastern time, Thursday evenings, at https://cytu.be/r/Metafilter_MST3KClub, but we start off with an early movie at 7 PM, follow it up with a late movie at around 11, with some other episodes of stuff mixed in. Although we may take a break until September, we're not sure, or we may show some other riffing-related things on Thursdays. Maybe Cinematic Titanic? Film Crew? Rifftrax? We have yet to decide.

We also show other things, for the time being, on Tuesday and Sunday nights. Drop by any of those times and see what we have cooking. And we aren't giving up on our Christmas Marathons just yet, which we'll announce as usual on Talk when the time comes.

Everyone who's come by MST Club, in the past and currently, thank you.
