All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: Dynamite 11/15/23

It's the last Dynamite before Full Gear. (Rampage will be rolled into the Collision post, since Collision will run on Friday this week.) All the men's matches announced for tonight are tag matches -- because why shouldn't this promotion play to their strengths? -- and the women's segment has implications for Saturday's TBS title match.

The announced card for Dynamite:

Orange Cassidy & HOOK vs. Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta

"Like A Dragon: Gaiden" Street Fight: The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kyle Fletcher & Brian Cage) vs. Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Kota Ibushi & Paul Wight

They can call themselves "The Golden Jets + Ibushi & Wight", but understand that in my heart it's going to be The Golden Lovers + Jeri-Show. (Their theme song may have occupied a portion of my brain since 2009.) If Kenny and/or Ibushi don't dress up in character for the match, what are we even doing here?

Now that there's proof Max isn't in the Devil mask, is tonight their night to reveal themselves?

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. Penta El Zero Miedo & Komander

Thoughts and prayers that Penta will leave enough left of the Bucks to crawl into their match against Jericho/Omega on Saturday

Winner faces Kris Statlander at Full Gear.

Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page face-to-face

Probably our go-home segment of the night. Apparently Tony Khan warned that if the two men attack each other, they will be banned for the rest of 2023.

The opening match was sufficiently brutal to get the point across. Moxley no-sold the Orange Punch and left Cassidy in a heap outside the ring, staring at his fist as if it were defective somehow. Now he knows he'll have to take his violence to the highest level if he's to stand a chance on Saturday.

Plus Yuta pinned Hook with the Seatbelt, which used to be Jungle Boy's pin... does this mean something?

MEANWHILE

When the heck did Hangman Page become smart?! After cutting a promo that actually comes off aggressive and confident as opposed to his usual, he reasons that there ain't no rule saying he can't beat the mess out of Prince Nana standing right there. Kudos to whatever local talent playing security guard, who ate that Buckshot lariat.

Skye Blue and Red Velvet temporarily relocated their match to Japan, because that sure could have been a joshi pro match. Violent and acrobatic, with Skye cutting her elbow on a stair spot early on, dripping blood onto Red Velvet as the two trade blows and pin attempts. Skye has all sorts of new moves at her disposal, including one-handed cartwheels, double knees and... an inverted Gory Bomb/Skullcrusher? She advances to face Statlander, but I have to believe some kind of Julia Hart shenanigans are coming.

Oh I underestimated how much Brian Cage likes to cosplay whenever given the excuse... he's only gone and had the Sega logo painted on his face! I do not know enough about the Yakuza series to say how accurate the costumes of Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher but I'm gonna say... very.

Man the editing on a lot of the street fight was a mess, but they gave us Kota Ibushi on a murderbike and that covers a multitude of sins

I don't know why, after four years and counting, the AEW production team doesn't yet know how to do a split-screen for matches where the fighters are in multiple places.

On the plus side, not only did that bicycle get used effectively as a weapon -- just like in the Yakuza games, I'm told, same as the "VIP Club" brawl -- but the commentary team actually got to shout "He's got a bicycle!" ala Dusty Rhodes and that Botchamania clip.
